Dr. Sameer Jejurikar Shares Information About Improvements For Breast Augmentation Surgery

Some of the top plastic surgeons in the nation live and work in the greater Dallas region. One of these is Dr. Sameer Jejurikar who earned the Compassionate Doctor Certification in 2012. In order to earn this certification, he had to have nearly perfect patient reviews over the prior year. Dr. Sameer Jejurikar is a board-certified plastic surgeon who works at the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute. He performs the surgeries at the Dallas Medical Center, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, and Pine Creek Medical Center. His specialties include operating on the face, eyes, nose, breast, and body. He has been practicing as a plastic surgeon for nearly 20 years and is a graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School.

On his blog, he recently wrote about some of the latest changes for this surgery such as newer breast implant shells and gels. He said that the latest shells are far more durable than older designs and won’t leak like those were prone to doing.

Dr. Sameer Jejurikar wrote that the FDA removed the older breast implant shells from being used at all in the United States in 1992. However, doctors in other countries were still using them and researchers continued to make improvements over the years. They also improved the gel, making it both thicker and stickier. There ended up being clinical trials performed on the shells and gels in the United States are they were allowed back into use in 2006. He wrote that another big improvement in these materials came out in 2013, including a new cohesive gel implant which is now in use by most American plastic surgeons.
