About the Center for Constitution Transitions
Sujit Choudhry is a law professor, a constitutional expert, and adviser who served as the founding director of Center for Constitution Transitions. The organization’s core business is producing and gathering the knowledge used in supporting and creating of constitutions. This is done by mobilizing international networks from professionals in the sector, to help come up with evidence-based systems alternatives for setting the agenda by the decision makers. Again, it is achieved by working in collaborations with multilateral companies who form a global network such as the NGOs and Think Tanks.
Choudhry founded the organization that seeks to fill in the gap that arises due to lack of knowledge or updated research on constitutions from all over the world. Sujit Choudhry, therefore, established the organization to act as an expert to work with upcoming democracies all over the world. His works involve amending existing constitutions and writing new ones as well. Moreover, Choudhry is an immigrant and has studied the law degree extensively from three countries’ which makes well versed in the legal career. Choudhry studied his law degrees from Harvard, Oxford, and Toronto universities which is what has seen him excel in the legal practicing.
As a legal practitioner who has worked globally, Choudhry believes that to be successful one must first view the constitutions of different countries from their perspective. He advises that you must first listen and to never assume that you know better. Also, Sujit Choudhry advices that to be successful you should never give up on goals but see failure as an opportunity to reinvent and design something new. Furthermore, the Center for Constitutional Transitions continues to research projects jointly with the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistant to add on the constitutional product knowledge (inspirery.com).
Sujit Choudhry has lead in numerous research projects where he is now co-leading in some which include the Security Transitions, Dealing with Territorial Cleavages in Constitutional Developments, and many more. He has further published more than 90 publications such as reports, articles, book chapters and working papers (medium.com). Choudhry is particularly knowledgeable in the constitutional law and politics which is his central area of practice. Additionally, as a renowned authority in the constitutional law, Choudhry has been on the forefront of helping many countries in their constitutions building.
